Jesus Took Captivity Captive

[A]t the ascension, in which he made all angels, authorities, and powers subject to himself (Eph 4:8; 1 Pet 3:22), he fully received the Holy Spirit along with all his gifts. Ascending on high, he took captivity captive, gave gifts to humans, and ascended far above all the heavens, so that he might fill all things (Eph 4:8-10).
